Divorce Group Activities
Divorce group activities are a great way to start rebuilding your life after a difficult or painful divorce.
During the course of a divorce, you might feel lonely and disconnected from friends and family members who
are still married and don't quite understand how you are feeling.
Joining a support group with others going through the same process makes you feel connected, and understood.
Finding a "Divorce Support Group" or even divorce group activities in your area can be a tough task. While
you would think there would be plenty of group around, they can actually be sparse and hard to find. I
learned this the hard way when friends of mine and family members were going through a divorce and
asking for my help to find them resources in the area. Finding them a divorce support group was next
to impossible and this is what I do(as a social worker) for a living!
So, after a lot of searching, some of it fruitful, some of it not, I found the best resources I could for them.
While I cannot give information for specific geographical areas, I did find some general resources to begin them
and you, on your quest.
First I would check with your local church or religious affliation and see if they run any divorce group activities
or know if another church in your area does. If you do not find anything that way, try a community
mental health center in your area. They may have some resources to offer or may be able to refer you
somewhere. If these two options do not work here is a list of more general resources for you to try.
