Divorce and the Drug Addicted Spouse
Many partners struggle with the issue of divorce and the drug addicted spouse. It is often a painstaking and difficult decision to make. Whether to stay in an unhealthy and unhappy relationship or leave and begin life anew.
"Divorcing my drug-addicted husband was the most difficult decision I ever had to make. I had to learn how to stop feeling responsible for his behavior, and stop feeling guilty for wanting and planning to leave. 'Alanon' helped me alot to help me understand how my staying was only enabling his drug-addiction." *Samantha
It takes alot of thought, planning and support for most people who are married and are resolved to divorce their drug addicted spouse. You have probably been enabling the addictive behavior for years, either knowingly or unknowningly, and that is why it is so difficult for you to leave.
You are not responsible for your mates behavior. The only thing you can control in your life is you. Accepting this will make your decision to divorce your drug-addicted partner that much easier.
If you are in this situation make sure you are surrounding yourself among supportive family and friends. And find an addictiong support group in your area for extra reinforcement.
